Good "practice or new guy thats not in real good shape" rides!

Hello everybody! My name is Paul, and I am new person #44!! I am looking for suggestions on some good practice rides. Maybe some areas in town that would be good as training pads, with minimal pressure to go aggresive. I am not ready to go on group rides quite yet, cause I am trying to still get used to riding again. And maybe build some confidence. Maybe after I do that I will be ready for the group rides, or maybe some short races to start out with. The last time I raced it was bmx, and I am doing the road thing now. A bit different I think! So, any suggestions would be awesome!! Thank you in advance!!!
