Boise Cycling

All things cycling-related in the Boise, Idaho area.

Hi there! I'll be in Boise over the summer and want to get some info on organized weekend club rides.  Can anybody tell me who has rides and a general description/characterization of them?  i.e. what kind of riders, how many riders, usual length and difficulty of route, etc

Thanks!

Hey Anthony,

During the summer there should be plenty of rides to choose from. I ride with Lost River Cycling and all our club rides are open to the public. Here's a list of Lost River's club rides:

You should also click on some links to the other local club web sites (most of them are listed on Boise Cycling's home page).

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Uhl.

I had seen those links while poking around online trying to learn about Boise club rides and get a feel for them but the information is pretty bare. Typically, all I find is just a short note that there *is* a ride that meets at a certain time at a certain location and that's it.

I'm curious to know if certain rides are more popular with certain types of riders? What club rides go where and for how far? Also, I'd love a local's opinion on how well the various club rides are organized (designated ride leader or very informal).

Anthony,

Uhl and his club are great! I would add to his suggestions three rides you might look at as excellent "must-see" routes. They include but are not limited to...
- The Dump Loop (Cartwright Rd./Hidden Springs)
- Bogus Basin (15 miles of climbing followed by 15 miles of descent)
- The Prison Loop (a.k.a Hubbard/10 Mile Creek)
- Hilltop

They vary in difficulty but are breath taking.

Also, Treasure Valley Cycling is a group that does a ton of rides. You are welcome to check out our ride forum and meet up with us as well.
