All things cycling-related in the Boise, Idaho area.

Anyone here know of a long, flat road free (or very less traveled) of traffice here in Boise that I can train for time trials?
I get off everyday at 5 and the roads around Gowen seem to be packed.

At that time of day it may be hard to find many roads that don't have a lot of traffic near town. When you say the roads around Gowan, I assume you're talking about Pleasant Valley, Kuna Mora and Ten Mile Creek. Yeah, those probably do get busy. I wonder if you head east on Kuna-Mora, is there still a lot of traffic at that time?

Don't know where you live, but if you're able to ride to the west end of the valley, then the area north of Star and Middleton is perfect for TT training. Roads like Purple Sage, Galloway and Edna/Chaparral all don't get much traffic, even at "rush" hour. I live in Eagle, so it's only 20 minutes away fro me. From downtown it would probably take about an hour to get out there.

Here's a map of what would be a great ~20 mile TT route:

To get to the start you can either go through Hillsdale Estates (despite what the map says, the roads now connect through to Purple Sage). Or you can continue west on Beacon Light after crossing Hwy 16 and go up the very steep Can Ada Rd.

Hope this helps!
