Today I agreed to trade my $75/month [company-paid] downtown parking pass for adding $1 to my paycheck each day to commute to work on my bike - this is their pre-emptive answer to the Bike Commuter Act, and a pretty good one, I'd say. We're already compensated $1 every time we go to the gym, so it's another healthy way to make money... even if currently, I'm the only one who commutes this way. Anyone else talking to their employers about bike-to-work Work benefits? Already have benefits?
That is a fairly progressive idea but I think it would be better if it was 3 dollars a day but it is definitly a step in the right direction. I am a little surprised that there is a company around town that is thinking along those lines. I always thought that when I started a business I would have a locker room and showers for the employees, as well as some other compensation. My boss is pretty awesome. He has compensated me many times over, not that I needed to be because I would ride my bike through a blizzard everyday even if I wasn't getting anything for it, because there is just no better way to travel.
