All things cycling-related in the Boise, Idaho area.

Hi all. I am planning my first century ride at the Bob LeBow bike tour this June. I was wondering if anyone has done one and would love any tips you might have. Diet, training schedule and excercises, whatever. Also, is anyone else planning on doing this? Maybe we could get a team together?

practice some good pace line techniques with your fellow riders if you do encounter some good headwinds. Otherwise, keep the pace relatively moderate. No sense of running out of energy halfway through.

Oh .. plenty of water!

Here's a good summary on how to be ready for your first century. (much better than I could have written of the top of my head!):

As far as getting a team together, Bob LeBow is a pretty popular century so there should be plenty of people doing it. The trick is finding people of the same ability level so you can enjoy riding it together (no one is holding anyone else back).

I'd say frequent some of the local club rides through the spring and ask around. I'm sure it won't be too hard to find people who'll be up for getting a group together. Plus riding with others will be good practice as informal groups will develop during the actual event so you'll want to be comfortable riding in a "pack" to take advantage of drafting. Unless you're a glutton for punishment, you don't want to do your first century with your nose in the wind for the whole 100 miles!
